The New Of The World's Children's Champion Awards celebrate those people who go further than anyone else to make a positive difference in the lives of children. Supported by Barnardo’s children’s charity, and the Royal Mail, The News of the World will be hosting this special annual awards ceremony in London, and the event will be televised exclusively for Sky1 HD and Sky1 on Wednesday 10th March at 8pm on Sky1 HD and Sky1. The awards will be hosted by Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden and Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans.
Chris Evans commented: “My life is full of positive experiences these days, Children’s Champions will be another. I know it will be a special night and I might need a box of Kleenex in the wings – stories like this move me easily.”
Amanda Holden added: “Children are at the heart of all our hopes, and people who devote their lives to them deserve every bit of our praise.”
A celebrity panel of judges including Sarah Brown, Spice Girl singer Emma Bunton, Peter Andre, Dame Kelly Holmes, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Christine Bleakley and Angela Griffin have chosen the winners from nominations made by members of the public. From a brilliant teacher to a school dinner lady, a life-saving doctor to a nurse or hospital cleaner, a member of the emergency services, or a fabulous foster mum, this is a wonderful opportunity for all the unsung heroes across the country to be recognised.
