Melanie Brown invited me into a recording studio near Beverly Hills this week to reveal something exciting... no, it's not her crazy new hair-do. She's planning to revive her solo career!
GMTV's special Oscars correspondent told me: "I was in the studio last week - I've only done a handful of tracks. I'm waiting to find a sound that I'm happy with but I'm writing all my own stuff. I've got a lot going on this year but I'm making time to be in the studio. I was in there till five in the morning.I always find at night, when you've put the kids to bed, you can get into your zone."
Mel, who will be at Sir Elton John's star studded Oscar bash tonight, added: "To do an album takes time and energy. You can't have distractions going on."
Despite this, Scary Spice assured me it's full steam ahead for the Spice Girls musical, which is currently being written by Mamma Mia mastermind JUdy Craymer.
"She's in the creative process at the moment but is listening to all of us," Mel said: "She's open to all five of our ideas. If it was up to me it will be out tomorrow."
