Earlier it had been reported that Spice Girl singer Emma Bunton was in line for a role on GMTV.
She became a household name as blonde Baby Spice in the Spice Girls.
Last week, the singer, 34, was filling in for Lorraine Kelly on the breakfast show and insiders say bosses were so impressed with her girl-next-door presenting style that they are considering making her a more permanent fixture.
It was suggested she could join Chiles to present the show every Friday morning from the autumn.
Bunton was also said to be a contender to take the place of more experienced anchor Emma Crosby as part of the show’s ongoing revamp, sparking a new round of sofa wars.
Last night, GMTV would not confirm any plans to replace Emma Crosby or to offer Bunton a more permanent contract.
A spokesman said: ‘Emma Bunton was asked to do holiday cover. It’s pure speculation that Emma Crosby has been asked to leave and the review is ongoing. No decisions have yet been made.’
A spokesman for Emma Bunton said: ‘This has all come from the fact that she was asked to stand in for Lorraine Kelly last week. She had a great time. There are no discussions to line her up to join Chiles. But who wouldn’t want to do that?’
