Melanie B Talks About Eddie Murphy

Melanie Brown has had some well documented struggles with Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy - but the ex-Spice girl claims any drama between the couple is now behind them and that 'it's water under the bridge.'

Following the break-up of their six month relationship Brown was forced to take a DNA test by Murphy to prove the paternity of her daughter, Angel, after he questioned being the father.

Then followed a bitter legal battle over child support payments, that ended when Murphy was ordered to pay Brown £35,000 a month until Angel reaches 18 - a total of around £7million.

But that's all in the past now according to Brown, who claimed during an interview on E! TV's Daily 10 show in the U.S. that 'it's really cool' between her and Murphy.

So cool in fact that Murphy even invited Brown and their daughter, along with Brown's husband, Stephen Belafonte and her daughter from a previous relationship, Phoenix, along to his Shrek premiere in Hollywood last month.

Murphy was not photographed with Brown or their daughter on the red carpet though, despite posing for the cameras with his seven older children from previous relationships.

Brown and Murphy started dating back in June 2006, just two months after Murphy ended his marriage to Nicole Mitchell, the mother of five of his children.

Murphy publicly dumped Brown, who was five months pregnant at the time, on Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard in December 2006.

When asked about Mel and the the baby, Murphy said: 'You're being presumptuous because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions sir.'

Just weeks later Murphy went public with new girlfriend Tracey Edmonds, who he claimed he had been dating for two months.

Murphy and Edmonds 'married' in 2008 in a ceremony in Bora Bora, but split less than two weeks later. Luckily for Murphy a divorce was not required as the ceremony was not legally recognised in the US.

Murphy and Brown started the reconciliation process in May, after Murphy invited her to a party at his home.

Apparently it is Murphy's first ex-wife Mitchell that has been pushing him to make amends so that he could have a part in his daughter's life. Mitchell also wants her children to have a relationship with their half sister.

Things seem to be going well for Brown these days - as well as a seemingly happy marriage and finally burying the hatchet with Murphy, she has a busy work slate ahead of her.

Brown is set to be the host on the next season of the US show, Dance Your Ass Off - a cross between the diet show Biggest Loser and Strictly Come Dancing.

In addition she is currently filming her reality TV show, Mel B It's A Scary World, that documents her life with her family in LA.
