Melanie Brown, the former Spice Girl, still loves leopard print and scary platform heels...
Known as Scary Spice in her Spice Girl days, Mel B, 35, has carved out a new career as a TV presenter and actress. She lives in LA with her film producer husband, Stephen Belafonte, and her daughters, Phoenix Chi, 11, and Angel Iris, three.
How would you describe your style? Comfortable, modern mum, plus a bit sexy and a bit sassy.
What colours, shapes and styles suit you best? I really love bright, bold colours and fitted dresses. I’m also a real leggings and boots girl.
Who is your style icon? Nicole Richie and Jade Jagger. Victoria [Beckham]’s style is impeccable too, and Katy Perry is really fun and fresh.
Do you have a stylist? I work with lots of stylists.
Which celebrity’s wardrobe would you like to own? Maybe Joan Collins – I would think she has the most amazing diamond collection.
Do you have a beauty secret? I totally swear by a brand called Sodashi.com. It’s 100 per cent organic and amazing.
How do you dress on “fat” days? I put on my sweats to be comfy or I wear something loose fitting.
Is there anything about your body you dislike? My body is my body. I have to deal with it and embrace it.
How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? It depends on what I’m doing and whether I have a hair and make-up team or not. If it’s up to me, I wear no make-up. I just jump in the shower and put my work-out clothes on and I’m good to go.
What is your current favourite outfit? I love my blue dress. I’ve worn it three times which is kind of rare for me. It’s by Bunmi Koko.
What is the one item of clothing you can’t live without? My Dr Rey spanx shapewear.
What is the oldest item in your wardrobe? Probably all my Spice Girl pieces from 15 or 20 years ago, like my buffalo boots and Jean Paul Gaultier leopard pants.
What has been your most embarrassing fashion moment? When I went with Melanie C to see Austin Powers, I wore a vest that was completely see through and I really didn’t care then, but looking back I think, “Why did I do that, why didn’t I wear a bright bra or something?”
Do you clear out your wardrobe every season? I have a big clearout every two to three months. I’ve just got rid of about 70 per cent of my wardrobe. I keep sentimental pieces but I mostly give things to charity.
Do you own more day wear than evening wear? It’s an even mixture.
Do you have a favourite shop/designer? I like lots of shops. Louis Vuitton is always a favourite.
Would you say your wardrobe is more high street or designer? A mixture of the two.
What high street shops do you like? H&M, Topshop, Urban Outfitters and American Apparel.
What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe? A vintage Giorgio Armani dress for £20k. It’s beautiful.
How many pairs of shoes do you own? Three hundred that I wear.
Do you wear silver or gold jewellery? I’m not really a big jewellery person, but I’ve just found this designer who I love at www.luckyflirts.com. The range has gold charms and Buddhist-inspired imagery. I also wear a watch that Oprah swears by. It’s from Philip Stein and gives off energy currents through your whole system.
How much of your wardrobe is black? About 15 per cent.
Do you wear diamonds? Yes, I love them.
What is the one item of clothing you could not live without? My black Louboutin knee-high boots.
Have you ever had anything made to measure? I usually get David Alexander to make things for me. He is designing me a dress for Gay Pride.
How many handbags do you own? About 20. I’m not a huge bag person.
What is the best fashion advice you’ve ever been given? If you don’t love it don’t buy it and don’t wear it.
If your house was burning down what item would you save? My wedding ring.
